The Chahamanas of Shakambhari, also known as the Chauhans of Sambhar or Ajmer, were an Indian dynasty that ruled present-day Rajasthan and surrounding areas from the sixth to the twelfth centuries.The Chahamanas ruled as vassals of the Pratiharas until the 10th century, when the Pratihara's power declined after the Tripartite Struggle. The Chahamana ruler Simharaja assumed the title of Maharajadhiraja.
Obverse: Lord Shri Rama is depicted holding a bow in his left hand and an arrow in his right hand. Decorative floral scrolls include a Hansa bird on the right and a lotus bud on the right. The Devanagari inscription “Shri Ra / ma” is split on either side of the figure.
Reverse: Devanagari legend in three lines: “Shri Madvigra / harajade / va” within a dotted border.
